Manager, Talent Acquisition

In this management position, you’ll have the opportunity to lead and develop a team of Talent Advisors, while providing strategic guidance, workflow management and problem solving support.  The ideal candidate will be a talent expert who is passionate about people development, creating and executing recruiting strategies and understands the business value associated with hiring strong technical talent. You will either have experience in IT talent acquisition or a burning curiosity to understand and master what fuels Progressive's ability to provide technology solutions to our consumers, agents and employees. 


Your Day-to-Day

  • Lead and thrive in a matrixed, shared services model where resources are jointly managed
  • Influence business partners by impacting staffing decisions through acute Progressive knowledge and external market expertise
  • Align recruiting activities with business needs and expectations, while making suggestions for new ways to maximize strengths, address inefficiencies and takes necessary steps to implement changes
  • Develop and deliver on recruiting approaches/concepts and converting them into action – think both “strategic and tactical” - know how changes in Progressive business strategy can impact our talent acquisition approach
  • Mentor and develop a professional organization built on operational excellence, skill development, innovation and expertise
  • Develop and implement appropriate metrics and tracking mechanisms to measure and improve results, impact and cost-effectiveness of team
  • Maintain superior collaborative relationships with hiring managers, business partners, key internal stakeholders and peers
  • Successfully manage team that is geographically dispersed across the US

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 3-5 years of solid experience managing a team of recruiting, candidate development or human resources professionals (5 years minimum in lieu of degree)
  • Experienced in creatively driving strategy, new ideas and solutions with a proven recruiting strategy delivery track record
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence senior leadership and gain consensus among peers in a matrix environment
  • Proven ability to define problems, collect and analyze data and draw valid conclusions
  • Solid business acumen, along with a preferred understanding of the IT business function and highly technical/complex roles within it
  • Applies and understands federal and state laws impacting recruitment decisions
  • Ability to partner with internal business leaders; advise, influence and make sound judgment calls; solid negotiating skills and decision making capability
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high sense of urgency
