The Holland America Group is currently searching for a highly motivated Sr. Fleet Recruitment Specialist who will report directly to the Fleet Talent Acquisition Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Fleet Talent Acquisition Manager in ensuring that the Hotel, Marine, and Technical fleet positions, for HA Group brands they are responsible for, are staffed with competent and qualified employees.
  • Partners with internal clients/operations to understand job specifications to effectively fulfill their staffing requirements.
  • Develops an effective recruiting strategy to ensure the availability of qualified crew applicants to meet current and anticipated needs.
  • Plans and leads recruitment drives in targeted countries. Coordinates and attends job fairs and events to source new candidates, when appropriate.
  • Sources candidates utilizing a variety of recruiting methods, such as web technology, employee referrals, career fairs, on-campus recruiting, networking, contingency firms, and advertisements to identify viable candidates.
  • Identifies qualified applicants, assesses, conducts interviews, administer tests, evaluates applicant qualifications, and checks references.
  • Ensures compliance with all job specifications, statutory requirements (where applicable) and “travel” requirements that pertain to the job.
  • Extends job offers to candidates explaining full job description, terms of assignment, pay rate, and benefits while “selling” the opportunity/company to candidates.
  • Acts as liaison between candidates and manning agencies regarding requirements to join to ensure all documents are in order for travel.
  • Supports the Fleet Talent Acquisition Manager with all short-term and long-term departmental projects related to recruitment and succession planning.
  • Manages and/or participates in special projects when requested by management.
  • Plans, tracks and reviews postings for Internal Transfer Program based on establishment levels.
  • Retrieves and analyzes MAPS data and all other relevant information necessary to produce key recruitment reports, documents and plans and the development of the EMC reports.
  • Develops recruitment targets and communicates targets to relevant recruitment offices and manning agencies; tracks recruitment efforts against set targets.
  • Coordinates placement of all recruitment related advertising for all recruitment agencies and offices.
  • Ensures that all recruitment offices and manning agencies maintain the required establishment levels and follow agreed-upon procedures during all aspects of the recruitment process.
  • Reviews internal and external feedback on quality of the recruitment process and, when required, coordinates course correction actions with supervisor.
  • Works with all manning agencies and recruitment offices to identify opportunities to improve efficiencies.
  • Communicates with Principals of all recruitment offices and manning agencies to ensure recruitment targets are monitored and achieved.
  • Reviews all resumes forwarded by recruitment agencies and manning offices. Provides constructive feedback to Manning Agencies to ensure suitable candidates are being presented
  • Develops procedures for automating the retrieval of data and information.

Requirements 

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of experience in progressively responsible positions in the area of talent acquisition/recruitment.
  • Knowledge of effective recruitment techniques, global market trends, and bulk hiring.
  • Strong interviewing skills.
  • Knowledge of Employment and Labor regulations, including MLC and STCW.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of open positions and screen candidates in a professional and efficient manner.
  • Strong organizational skills in order to meet deadlines with the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with applicants, recruitment offices, manning agents, onboard and shoreside team members.
  • Computer literate to intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Must be able to travel and work occasional weekends and evenings, if required.
