Job Title: Digital Development Senior Manager / Lead

Position Reports to: Talent Development Managing Director



Key Role Description:

Act as a Talent Development (“TD”) Digital Manager to research, inform, consult and implement solutions that enhance learning strategies and experiences through innovation.  This role introduces emerging technologies and adherence to digital strategies, ensures new approaches are scalable across all businesses, research new digital learning models to best meet the dynamic workforce needs and identify and/or consult on the potential technical infrastructure needs to support these new learning models.  Leads the evolution and execution of the technology roadmap, including research and ideation, identification of gaps, implementation and support for learning professionals prior to implementation, adoption and maintenance. Works with our Talent Technology and enterprise Information Technology counterparts to mature the technical infrastructure to support learning models in order to meet diverse learning and performance needs.  Build, manage and leverage relationships with Talent, Talent Technology, Information Technology and business colleagues.


Unique Business Situation:

This role is responsible for leading a cohesive, cross-business TD technology strategy, ensuring unified processes and standards to address rapid innovation in the technology space, driving cost efficiencies, consulting with a network of Digital Reps within TD, increasing collaboration across businesses, innovating and integrating delivery methods, managing dedicated resources in external exploration of leading edge trends and emerging technologies and consulting with stakeholders to increase their understanding of the advantages of modern delivery methods.


Skill sets necessary for success in this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading teams and working with executive stakeholders
  • Previous experience leading collaborative, social and just-in-time/place learning approaches and the related platforms on which these learning approaches reside
  • Currency in related disciplines such as neuroscience of learning, knowledge management, social media, data analytics and emerging learning technologies such as xAPI and learning record stores
  • Demonstrated familiarity with learning technologies, platforms and tools used to support learning approaches such as:
    • Learning record stores (LRS)
    • Learning analytics tools
    • Learning related APIs (e.g., xAPI, Tin Can API, EnderMetrics, etc.)
    • Social Learning Platforms
    • Video-based learning platforms
    • User-generated video on demand
    • Digital performance support tools
    • Learning content management systems (LCMS)
    • Personalized learning environments (PLE)
  • Team and large scale technology project management
  • Stakeholder management
  • Communications (Written and Verbal) (e.g., ability to influence, negotiate)
  • Strategic planning (e.g., communications, long-term roadmaps)
  • Change management
  • Delegation with direct reports and with non-reporting teams


Job Responsibilities:

  1.  Oversees dedicated digital team
  2. Assumes responsibility for Digital work-streams
    1. PMO/Strategy
      1. Defines, recalibrates, socializes, gains alignment on digital strategy and roadmap
        1. Stays current on new technology trends both within the learning space as well as beyond learning and collaborate with governance board and others to keep them abreast of what is coming/changing and the potential impacts to Deloitte
      2. Owns process and standards for digital strategy team
        1. Ensures process is working, making adjustments and enhancements as needed for increased efficiency and efficacy
      3. Builds awareness of digital strategy
    2. Technology and Roadmap
      1. Provides guidance of prioritization, timing, overall roadmap for technology requests
      2. Consults on definition of administration process for various technology solutions; ensures requestors:
        1. Consider when and how to sunset technologies that have been replaced
        2. Develop a process to maintain/support and continuously enhance systems/tools
      3. Manages overall technology research and ideation, implementation plans, etc.
      4. Key Stakeholder of Talent Development Exchange (TDx)
    3. Collaboration with Digital Reps from TD, Development Leadership Team, business stakeholders, Talent Technology, and Information Technology


  1. Drives and oversees governance process
    1. Oversees governance adherence and compliance
    2. Provides approval to move requests on to the governance board
    3. Sits on governance board as a liaison to answer questions, either immediately or with additional connection to the requestor
    4. Performs final review of requests to:
      1. Ensures adherence to processes
      2. Validates alignment with strategy and business goals
        1. Defines impact and business results (e.g. each team decides on the business outcomes for their development efforts)
      3. Identifies duplicative efforts
      4. Ensures alignment to business-specific requests approved by the Governance Board (e.g., connecting businesses with similar requests so they can consider combining their efforts)


  1. Manages Stakeholder engagement (navigation, influence and consensus building) and change management
    1. Builds awareness of digital strategy
    2. Provides updates to and gathers feedback from Development Leadership Team on digital initiatives and requests and other technology related matters
    3. Communicates new technologies and their benefits, as selected and implemented
      • Creates, manages and/or executes change management plans as necessary
    4. Manages the relationships with Core Talent Services (shared services) and other strategic partners (e.g., Talent Technology (i.e., acts as main POC)  Core Talent Services-Continuous Performance Improvement team (TD dedicated resource), Information Technology, etc.




  • Eight to twelve years of experience in the learning and development field, with three to five years of demonstrated experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams of learning designers and technologists
  • Demonstrated history in leading team in use of two or more of the following innovative pedagogies and instructional technologies is desired:
    • Use of social/community-based learning
    • User-generated video-on-demand for learning
    • Strategic use of content curation for learning
    • Mobile learning/performance support
  • Demonstrated ability to drive progression from learning strategy to tactical implementation is desired
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment
  • Strong strategic-thinking skills with an ability to collaborate with team members on best practices
  • Ability to identify short-term alternatives until long-term solutions are realized
  • Consultative approach towards clients
  • Proven leadership and influence skills
  • Ability to travel up to 15%
